The Company

Wild Dream Theatre is an emerging, Toronto based theatre company dedicated to bold and daring collective creations inspired by the imagination, erupting from the heart.  We produce courageous and stimulating performances of challenging texts, generated by work rooted in the body.  Wild Dream Theatre re-imagines and reinvents traditional performance models through dynamic movement-based performance.

"If I could be free of you without having to lose you."

Crave, Sarah Kane

Why did I choose to tackle this charming and challenging piece for my directorial debut?  The answer would have to be that I felt compelled to.

I am someone, perhaps much like yourself, who finds myself perpetually broken hearted, stranded, alone.  I belong to the loneliest group of people in the world… those with the unfortunate affliction of always needing, desiring, and yearning for more.  An eternal seeker, starving for love.  Whenever I stumble upon a fellow weary and ravenous soul, I latch on for dear life.  I love fiercely, with every inch of my being.  I trip and fall, spinning head over heels over head over heels into a bottomless pit of love.  And I sink there for a while.  I tread through the intricacies of another’s soul and swim between their secrets until I tire.  Exhausted from giving.  And still irreparably alone.  I impulsively kick and scream until I stumble upon the road along which I trudge my way out of that black hole of half-love.  I stagger toward the sun, warm rays that bring promise of freedom and peace.  Somewhere along this bright path, I am reminded of the emptiness that inhabits so much of my heart.  I look up to see another – frail and foaming at the mouth.  And together we trip and fall, hand in hand.

M:  Filled with emptiness.
B:  Satisfied with nothing.
